Industry Immersion Program
What types of Immersion Programs will be funded?
Construction Industry Awareness Days/VET Tasters
An introduction to construction industry pathways while supporting the “World of Work Challenge”. Programs should be interactive, include hands-on activities, and connect with industry through guest speakers or on-site exposure.
- Participants: Year 7 to Year 10 Students
- Timeframe: 3 to 6 hours
- Program includes:
- interactive, hands-on activities
- engagement with industry
- Does not include accredited training.
Introduction To Construction
Assist students to make informed decisions about their subject selection and/or career pathways through exposure to multiple construction pathways including trades and paraprofessional careers such as architectural drafting, civil engineering, estimating, and surveying.
- Participants: Year 10 to Year 12 Students
- Timeframe: 2 to 5 days duration (minimum of 6 hours per day of student contact)
- Focus on hands on/practical activities
- Includes engagement with industry
- Does not included accredited training (except Whitecard).
Trade Pathway Programs
Provide students within a D2C FIP exposure and experience with skills shortage trades, and opportunities to practice and apply skills they have learned throughout their FIP.
Ideally, programs will enhance student interest in an Advanced Skills Cluster in Year 12 or provide direct links to school-based apprenticeship opportunities. Industry collaboration through site visits or guest presenters should also be included in these programs.
- Participants: Students in a D2C FIP and registered with CITB
- Timeframe: 2 to 5 days duration (minimum of 5 hours per day of student contact.)
- Practical program to practice and enhance skills
- Designed for D2C FIP students
- Include engagement with industry
- Does not include accredited training.

What is the assessment criteria?
Applications will be assessed on:
- Previous performance
- Accessibility (Metro and Regional)
- Nominated program partners (industry and schools).
- Opportunity for diversity groups.
How much funding is provided?
- Programs will be funded at $20.00 per hour per student capped at $1,800.00 per day (this is based on 15 students and is equivalent to $20.00 per student/hour).
- Funding will be adjusted if minimum student numbers are not reached by $120.00 per student. However, flexibility on numbers may be considered for programs delivered regionally or to diversity groups.
